So you booked a photo session, now what?
The photos will be lovely no matter what you decide to wear, but to make the most of our time together it helps to take a little time to consider the following
Checklist
- Decided on a color pallet to work from. Try to think about what colors you have in your home since you’re likely to display the photos there.
- Think about the location we’ll be shooting at and how your wardrobe will look against the background
- Select outfits that are coordinating, but not matching. You don’t want to put everyone in a green shirt.
- Try to keep the most color and pop up top, you want to attract attention to your face, not your brand new white shoes.
- Keep away from Black and white. Neutrals like Grey, beige, brown, or off white are great. For interest add pattern and color.
- don’t forget about accessories! They add layer and interest to the photos.
Other notes
- Give yourself plenty of time the day of the shoot. Rushed and frazzled don’t look great on camera!
- Make sure everyone is well fed and rested.
- Take a little extra time on hair and makeup. The camera sees everything! Get ready as if you’re getting ready for a special event.
- Feel free to bring props! I’ll try and have some on hand, but if there is something that is especially you, bring it!
- Think of our session as a family event. It’s a special time to hang out and enjoy being together, no cellphones in our hands to distract us from one another!
Feel free to send me photos of your selections for a second pair of eyes!
